Guandong Museum of Art di Guangdong, China

Color and Light at the Guangzhou Guandong Museum of Art.

On October 10, 2025, the dual exhibition "Refraction of Light – Yan Laichao & Milot," organized by the GDMOA and curated by Ji Shaofeng, opened at the Guangzhou Guandong Museum of Art.

With "Refraction of Light" as its guiding theme, the exhibition brings together two artists with Italian backgrounds but profoundly different expressive languages. Milot explores the rational dimension of light and structure, while Yan Laichao interprets its emotional force through gesture and color. The comparison between the two generates a visual and conceptual reflection on the relationship between rationality and emotion, order and creative impulse.

Concurrently with the exhibition, the monumental sculpture "Obelisco di Luce," by renowned artist Helidon Xhixha, was officially inaugurated. The imposing polished steel installation, located at the Gallery's entrance, reflects and multiplies the surrounding light, becoming a visual symbol of the exhibition and an ideal bridge between matter, energy, and spirituality. With its verticality and iridescent reflections, the work fits perfectly with the museum's architecture, embodying the values of balance, power, and transformation.

A sculpture from the Mr. Duck "Spick Stars" series, made of mirror-polished stainless steel by sculptor Junjie Lai, will also be on display during the exhibition.

The opening event featured presentations by Director Wang Shaoqiang, Ambassador Riza Poda, curator Ji Shaofeng, professors Jiang Shuzhuo and Milot, artist Yan Laichao, and sculptor Helidon Xhixha. Artist Milot also guided the public on an immersive tour, inviting them to contemplate the subtle interplay between light, structure, and perception.

The opening ceremony was attended by numerous figures from the diplomatic, artistic, and academic worlds, including H.E. Riza Poda, Ambassador of Albania to China, and his wife Ilda Poda; Minister Counsellor of the Embassy Novruz Çeta; Director of the Guandong Museum of Art Wang Shaoqiang; curator Ji Shaofeng; sculptor Helidon Xhixha; and representatives of major Chinese universities and cultural institutions.

Through the dialogue between painting and sculpture, light and refraction, rationality and emotion, "Refraction of Light" broadens the understanding of contemporary painting and sculpture, inviting reflection on visual language as a form of connection and symbiosis.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until November 26, 2025.
